Some Healthcare organizations today operate under a business-oriented model, which offer services to help people. Yes, it is a business and money is needed to survive but it cannot be the nucleus. The foundation (STAFF), for this business type, is weak and will eventually crumble if we don't focus on the "whole" picture.
One for this discussion is For-profit hospitals who aim to make a profit to satisfy the shareholders/investors, who expect a good return on "THEIR" money. This is how I felt at these kind of facilities. The hell with caring for individuals, the patients & frontline staff. Also, I noticed that empathy is lost, there's a lack of leadership, very few hellos as you walk the halls, faces look sad, and staff are working in "silos". Regardless, it is not healthCARE, the direction is changing to BENEFITcare & who is it benefiting:
the investors and the "C-suite". In addition, I feel that the mission/vision statements are just words. The meaning is there but I find it is not 100% the goal.
Do you have empathy????
Review the short film below (I do not own any rights to this video and do not wish to be paid for anything on this video) if you felt any emotion, then you have empathy!
Thank you for creating this platform, especially for those of us who are still filled with empathy
